Not all of us have the unwitting and unfortunate situation of having a golden child sibling. How uncomfortable is it to feel like a second class citizen in your own home? Your parents are supposed to love you equally, give you and your siblings the same treatment and opportunities. Depending on your upbringing or culture, this may not be the case. I was lucky enough to grow up feeling extremely equal to my sister. She is the older one though, so maybe she wouldn't say the same. The oldest always get the most slack. 

But that's besides the point. If you do grow up with a golden child sibling, you could more easily form resentment in your adult relationship with them. Maybe you're unengaged with them, maybe you've distanced yourself and subdued your relationship. Maybe you actually have ill feelings towards them, and don't want to step a toe out of line to help them at all. However you choose to handle the situation is up to you, but let's see what the protagonist of the story does.
